Seaside AAUW Scholarship Foundation was formed in 2005 in order to provide scholarships and promote educational opportunities for women. We have grown from offering one $300 a year scholarship to awarding $16,500 in scholarships in our fiscal year 2023-24 with the help of grants from Windermere Foundation and Pacificorp Foundation.
Scholarships have been provided for a first generation woman in her family to attend college through the June Stromberg Scholarship at Warrenton and Seaside High Schools. Women returning to school after an absence have also received scholarships through an ongoing award established at our start.
Scholarship applications are taken in the spring of the year after a determination of what our funds are able to provide. More specific information will be made available soon for the 2025-26 academic year.
Our Scholarship board presently consists of 11 members who meet monthly to provide direction and implementation of our scholarship program.
Officers include the following:
Gini Dideum, president; Alvis Porter, recording secretary; Judy Carder, corresponding secretary; hillary Dochow, treasurer.
Other board members are:
Karen Beck, Carol Brenneman, Maureen Casterline, Laura Gordon, Diana McLoughlin, Catriona Penfield and Julia Weinberg.
