Seaside AAUW Scholarship Foundation

Seaside AAUW Scholarship Foundation was formed in 2005 in order to provide scholarships and promote educational opportunities for women.   We have grown from offering one $300 a year scholarship to awarding over $16,000  in scholarships this academic   year with the help of grants from Windermere Foundation and Pacificorp Foundation.

Scholarships have been provided for a first generation woman in her family to attend college through the June Stromberg Scholarship at Warrenton and Seaside High Schools.  Women returning to school after an absence has been an ongoing award since we started and this year provided a $3000 scholarship  to Eastern Oregon University.

For the first time we have been able to provide STEM scholarships of $1000 each to young women from Seaside, Astoria, Naselle, and Gearhart.  Successful scholarship recipients have been able to apply for a 2nd year award through the Helen Gronquist Scholarship.

Scholarship applications are taken in the spring of the year after a determination of what our funds  are able to provide.  More specific  information will be made available soon for the 2024-25 academic year.

Our Scholarship board presently consists of 10 members who meet monthly to provide direction and implementation of our scholarship program.
